Another day, another slopping out. Got some fresh mud before breakfast. Got to get that order of plates finished today. Hope everyone is feeling energetic.

Aspidistra was grumpy; always moaning.

Great night down the pub. Had a sing round the Joanna. Even Aspidistra lost her sour face for a couple of hours.

Just making some cocoa for my honey.

I woke this morning to the cockerel, I was so tired from all our hard work yesterday. I went down to the kitchen to prepare porridge for the family, after I had a quick wash to wake myself up.

Rioja, as usual was still sleeping, she drives me crazy with her lazy ways. Basildon and Wander were ready for a days work but Archie was very grumpy this morning.

We all went down to the mud bank it really stank today, it was so hot. We didn’t do too bad, and found quite a bit to take to the pawnbrokers.

Being Friday its our treat night – pie and mash all round. Good. No cooking. Then down to the pub. Archie and Rioja were both up singing again. It was a good night and I felt quite happy as we all rolled home but perhaps that was the babychams I had during the evening. Oh well, I’m well ready for bed. I hope Archie goes straight to sleep I cant be doing with him tonight

Good day diary, this is Basildon Sludge here. Just woke up. I don’t know how I feel today. Half of me feels like working hard, waiting to see if we can get anything valuable out of the mud, but the other half doesn’t want to do anything. What do you think I should do, diary??? I can’t believe I’m asking my diary what to do, aren’t I weird.

Anyway, I got up and went down to see if mum had got anything for me to eat. I wasn’t happy cos she didn’t. I went straight to dad and told him mum didn’t feed me. Can you believe it diary, mum didn’t feed me this morning. Anyway, we all got ready and went to work. Aunt Rioja wasn’t really bothered as usual, we didn’t get much good stuff our of mud today, but I was still happy because me and dad and my sister worked together. I am still a bit angry with mum cos she didn’t make me anything to eat in the morning hah. So anyway diary after work we all went down to the pub. I liked the pub because I had a good laugh with dad. He is the best dad ever. My twin sisters didn’t get involved much but lets see how tomorrow goes. Well diary that’s my dad for you. I hope I didn’t bore you. Well, I m off now. Oh yeah, before I forget why don’t you ever talk back to me whenere I talk to you. You are meant to be my best friend. Now I am angry with you. Bye

Got out of bed at 5:30am after being rudely awakened by the peasants below. I hate those worthless, poor excuses for human beings. Have to keep reminding myself they will be gone soon. Concocted evil plan to get Barnard Bridge renamed after myself.

Lunchtime, why am I writing this bloody thing. Stupid psychologist. Should be shot. Concocted evil plan to get Main Road named after myself.

Dinner time. Bloody cheek of some people. Had a visit from an Italian. Had a stupid vegetable name. Anyway, wanted a job. I told him to go and see Mathias. That should wind him up. Concocted an evil plan to get Muddy End renamed after myself.

Dear Diary

Another day in slurry household. Here we go Felicia and her miserable self; acting just like the norm, can tell she’s not happy. I wish she could just be happy, get over the past and move on. I mean there is a man in the house and plenty out there.

But got to get going. All she can do is party.

Spindle and Crimble – bless, they’re only young, growing up of course. But I wish there was more for them. Got to get some more savings. Nearly there. I get that new fabric I’m after. Okay, lets get going, great day ahead; lets get breakfast started.

Broccoli was looking good at breakfast today, I was hoping to get to spend some time with him alone. Lettuce us such a whiner, always sticking her beak in.

Oh well, the new face filler I’m making is coming on a treat, but need more time to work on it. This lot just cant see past their noses, what a great idea this is, I know it will make our fortune, so what if I’m a dreamer, at least I’m not some boring old stick in the mud like Felicia.

I open my windows and look out in the street and try to remember the beautiful Naples.

I go down to the kitchen and drink some of this awful English coffee. Oh! The coffee, I miss. I hope that I can get some of this nice bacon they eat here, oh yes! Maybe Pimenta will have some slices for me. She always looks at me funny.

How I have to walk down the street and harvest all this mud. I don’t know what I am doing this, oh well, at least it pays, but god its boring.

After nearly 14 hours non-stop, I come back to the house where I stay. Maybe I’ll get invited to the pub by some nice mates (as they say here). Its warm in the pub, its nice and people let loose. I go back to my house very drunk. God they drink in this country! I go straight to my bed, but just when I cross the living room, here is Pimenta, sending me strange looks, but Im drunk, Id like to stay and talk to an English lady, maybe she’ll marry me and that will be my way out of this awful job.

I made it to my bed, lets hope the coffee tastes better tomorrow, oh café d’Italia, I miss you

Dear Diary
Today I got up early. Went downstairs for breakfast. Had an extra cup of tea. Then phoned Do-it-all for some mortar as I need to use some of the bricks I made to build my family a conservatory. I have already got planning permission from the local council. The only trouble is the building supplier had told me that the only lorry available the Hyab is not working. I told them just to bring the delivery and I will then off load it myself using my forklift truck Ive got parked out at the back

I have been all morning trying to clean the place up. I sometimes wonder if it makes sense even trying, with everybody coming in and out with dirty shoes and coats.

Monday 14th December
Oh. Another day same old thing. Get the fire made. Made the beds. Meander and me have to cook the breakfast. More me than her.

Its 10 o’clock now its so cold. And the ice is on the inside of window again. Will I ever get out of this dump. Its always so cold.

Time to get dinner ready as its getting dark. We have nothing. I’m so worried. No one else is bothered.

Dad just come through the door. He looks so tired. Its 8pm

I have to go and get the firewood before bedtime

10 o’clock now, gone to bed exhausted
